Provide Data with a Web ServiceYou can share data through the GISIN via a web serice if you either have a web server or can setup a web server that is available on the Internet. Otherwise, you can upload files of data to GISIN. To get started with GISIN web services, please to read the Introduction to GISIN Web Services and the Definitions of terms used by GISIN. Also, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the GISIN Protocol before proceeding. If you can install PHP on one of your servers, you can jump to section 2 below to install our PHP Toolkit. This toolkit supports all major operating systems and most popular databases. It is also eacy to adapt to other database. The toolkit comes with an easy to use web interface to configure and test your web services. If you cannot install PHP on one of your servers, you may have to create your own web service scripts. Jump to step 3 below to learn how to create a minimal web service for GISIN. No matter which approach you take, you'll want to refer to the GISIN protocol when you have problems. 1. Install the GISIN PHP ToolkitGISIN provides a PHP toolkit to make it easy to provide a web service to move data from your server to the GISIN servers. The toolkit will also help with mapping your data values to GISIN. PHP is free and available from www.php.net If you can't use PHP, section 5 below will help you write a 'minimal' web service to connect to GISIN. 2. Writing Your Own Web ServiceIf you want to write your own web serice software, see the web serice specification. 3. Connect to GISINClick on the link below to go to the 'Provider's List' and then click on your provider name. This will take you to the 'Provider Information' page which has links to your web service at the bottom of the page. If the web service does not appear, contact GISIN to have it setup. You'll want to make sure the URL is correct and then use the 'Provider's Tests' to make sure GISIN can access your web service. The 'Provider's List' is also available in the menu at left. If the web service links do not appear, make sure you are logged in. If they still do not appear, you'll need to contact your project manager or GISIN to be granted 'Contributor' permissions. 4. TroubleshootingThe link below contains information on troubleshooting problems with web services. ![]() |
